Martin Freeman is a British television, stage and film actor. He is best known for his roles as Tim Canterbury in the BBC's award-winning comedy series "The Office" (off of which the American show is based), John in "Love Actually" (2003), Arthur Dent in "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (2005), Dr. Watson in the "Sherlock" TV series (2010-2012) and Bilbo Baggins in Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" trilogy (2012-2014). He has a buoyant, lighthearted disposition, which is on full display in comedies like "Hot Fuzz" (2007), but Freeman has been able to move into more serious roles as well. Freeman has appeared in at least 18 television shows, 14 theatre productions and several radio productions, and has been commercially successful on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
