American actor, producer, and writer born on 22 July 1955 in Appleton, Wisconsin. He studied at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. He made his debut on Heaven's Gate (1980). He was nominated for an Academy Award 4 times for his performances in Platoon (1987), Shadow of the Vampire (2001), The Florida Project (2017), and At Eternity's Gate (2018). Other notable works of his are Antichrist (2009), and playing Green Goblin in the Spider-Man trilogy (2002- 2007).


William J. "Willem" Dafoe, born on 22 July 1955 in Appleton, Wisconsin, USA. He is one of seven children of Muriel Isabel (a nurse) and Dr. William Alfred Dafoe (a surgeon). Dafoe studied drama at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, but left after a year and a half to join the experimental theater company Theatre X in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, before moving to New York City in 1976. There he apprenticed under Richard Schechner, director of the avant-garde theater troupe, The Performance Group. A year later, he joined his romantic partner (Elizabeth LeCompte), Spalding Gray and others in the experimental theater company, Wooster Group. He featured in many successful roles.
