American director, writer, and producer born on 30 July 1960 in Houston, Texas. He made his directorial debut in 1985 with the short documentary Woodschock. He is a five-time Oscar nominee, the first two for Best Adapted Screenplay for Before Sunset (2004), Before Midnight (2013), and the other three nominations were for Boyhood in 2015; Best Original Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Picture. Other major works of his include Before Sunrise (1995), A Scanner Darkly (2006), and Waking Life (2001).
