American businessman, producer, and director born on 24 December 1905 in Houston, Texas, US. He was a multimillionaire business magnate who began his life as a pilot. He attended Rice University and the California Institute of Technology. His works in film include Scarface (1932), The Outlaw (1934), Hell's Angels (1930), and His Kind of Woman (1951). He married twice and had high-profile relationships with several actresses including Jean Peters, Ava Gardner, and Katharine Hepburn. He died on 5 April 1976 on an airplane from Mexico to Texas, US.
