An American director, producer, and writer, born on June 25, 1924, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was nominated for five Academy Awards throughout his career. He began his career by directing some episodes of television series, such as Danger (1951). His most notable films include 12 Angry Men, Dog Day Afternoon, Network, and Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. He died on April 9, 2011, in Manhattan, New York.
