American actor, director, producer and writer. He was born on August 8, 1951 in The Bronx, New York. He started his career by directing the short film Hot Dogs for Gauguin in 1972. His most notable works are: Beverly Hills Cop, Midnight Run, Meet Joe Black, and Scent of a Woman for which he was nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Director.
