An American writer, born in Staten Island, New York, United States. In 1955, he obtained a doctorate in English literature from Brown University in Rhode Island. He also obtained a doctorate in Irish literature from Harvard University in 1957, and worked as an editor. Some of his credits include Petrocelli, Witness, and How the West Was Won. He died on February 3, 2003.
