A Canadian writer, born in Woodville, Nova Scotia, Canada. She was educated in Woodville until she moved to Kings County Academy in Kentville to complete the twelfth grade. She began teaching after obtaining her Teacher's License from Provincial Normal College in Truro in 1932. She began writing in 1932 but did not publish her first novel "George Dawson: The Little Giant" until 1974. She is best known for writing the novel "Pit Pony", published in 1989, which was adapted into a film in 1997. She died on February 2, 2012 in Canada.
