An American writer, born in the Bronx, New York, USA. He wanted to be an accountant but started writing jokes when he was bedridden with pneumonia during his teens. He was discovered by writer and radio broadcaster Walter Winchell. Herman began writing up to four newspaper columns a week in 1936, and worked for twenty-nine years with Winchell. He's known for Winchell (1988), starring Stanley Tucci. He died on December 18, 2006, in Boca Raton, Florida, USA, at age 90.
