An American actress and director, born in in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1952. She studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and appeared in a number of films, including Car Wash (1976) and Girlfriends (1978). She directed The Baby-Sitters Club (1995) and Snapshots (2018). In 1989, she won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Thirtysomething (1987).
