He was born on March 16, 1969 in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi. Before the beginning of his career in cinema, he worked in a car repair shop in 1986. He graduated from school and served in the Soviet army in 1989, then joined the Gerasimov faculty of cinema in Moscow. His first feature film (Shultes) was his first experience in screenwriting and assistant directing in 2008. Among his most important works directed and wrote by him: The Hunter in 2011, Brat Deyan in 2015 and produced the movie Salyut-7 in 2017.
