He is a Norwegian film director and writer, born in Copenhagen, Denmark, 1974. His grandfather was the famous Norwegian filmmaker, Erik Løchen. As a teenager, Joachim was a skilled skater, and he began shooting and producing some personal skateboarding videos. His passion for filmmaking increased in his early 20's, which prompted him to study in European Film College in Denmark, and at the National Film & Television School in the United Kingdom. His career launched through the short film Still (2001), followed by Procter (2002) to his feature film debut Reprise (2006). He is also known for Oslo, August 31st (2011), which premiered at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.
