An American actress and television director, born in 1984 of Irish and German descent. She played supporting roles in more than 100 dramatic and cinematic works, perhaps the most famous of which is her role in Titanic (1997), About Schmidt (2002), and Fried Green Tomatoes (1991). She won many important awards and many nominations, including The 1990 Academy Award for Best Leading Actress for her role in the movie Misery, which made her famous, and for the same role she won the Golden Globe Award in 1991.For her role in the movie The Late Shift, she won the 1997 Golden Globe Award, and the 1996 Screen Actors Guild Award. In 1998, she won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for the movie Primary Colors.
