An American director and producer, born on July 24, 1952 in Louisville, Kentucky. He started his career with the short film The Discipline of DE (1982). His most notable works are Drugstore Cowboy, My Own Private Idaho, Elephant, and Paranoid Park. He was nominated twice for an Academy Award for Best Director for Good Will Hunting (1997), and Milk (2008).
