An Indigenous Australian filmmaker, born in Nambour, Australia. He has worked on several short films, and his first feature film Beneath Clouds (2002) won the First Movie Award at the 2002 Berlin International Film Festival and the 2002 Best Director Award at the Australian Film Institute Awards. His films also include Dreamland (2009) and Toomelah (2011), winner of the Grand Prix at the 2011 Pacific Meridian International Film Festival of Asia Pacific Countries and the UNESCO Award at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards 2011.
