An Italian screenwriter, born in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy. He was a member of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival in 1979. He worked with prominent Italian directors such as Roberto Rossellini and Vittorio De Sica. He was nominated four times for an Academy Award for Best Writing. In 1949, he founded his own production company. Some of his credits are Rome, Open City (1945) and General Della Rovere (1959). He died on April 14, 1981.
