Russian actress, born in Saint Petersburg, Russia. She became famous after starring in the film The Cranes Are Flying (1957), which won the Palme d'Or at the 1958 Cannes Film Festival, being the only Russian film to win this award. She gained international recognition for her role in Anna Karenina (1967). She also appeared in Letter Never Sent (1960) and Okean (1974). She died on May 4, 2014, in Moscow, Russia, at the age of eighty.
