An American actor, dancer, theater musician, choreographer, director, screenwriter, film author, and film director, born on June 23, 1927, in Chicago, Illinois. He won an unprecedented eight Tony Awards for choreography, as well as one award for directing. He was nominated for an Academy Award four times, winning one for directing Cabaret (1972). He presented another musical film that was one of the important films in the history of world cinema as well, which is the movie All That Jazz (1979). He died on September 23, 1987, in Washington, DC.
