An American author and actor, born in Massachusetts in 1976 into a distinguished family. His grandfather was Scottish novelist Eric Linklater, his uncle is journalist Magnus Linklater, and his second uncle is writer and historian Andro Linklater. He attended Commonwealth School in Boston, then enrolled at Amherst College. He co-starred in the films Fantastic Four, Magic in the Moonlight, and The Big Short.
