An English actor, born in Lewisham, London, England, United Kingdom. He studied at Marlborough College and worked as a journalist for Reuters in London among a variety of jobs. He began his artistic career in 1944. His most important works include The Guns of Navarone (1961), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968), and Murder She Said (1961). He died on July 2, 1975 in Hampshire. He married Dillys Ethel Hayden and actress Irene von Meyendorff.
