An American screenwriter, novelist, university professor, and producer, born in New York, United States. He began his career as an English teacher at Washington and Lee University. He also wrote a number of novels, and then worked with Walt Disney Productions, making his writing debut with Treasure Island (1950), based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. He died on December 16, 1981.
