Elijah Wood is an American actor best known for playing the unlikely hero Frodo Baggins in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Wood demonstrated talent from a very early age, so his mother took him to an International Modeling and Talent Association convention in Los Angeles, after which he started getting booked for small television roles. His first major film role was in Avalon (1990), which he followed with Paradise (1991), Radio Flyer (1992) and The Good Son (1993), at which point he was solidly an in-demand child actor. Wood continued to get top-billing as he developed as an actor, starring in Ang Lee's The Ice Storm (1997), Deep Impact (1998) and The Faculty (1998). The 2000s were landmark years for Wood. He achieved an elusive kind of franchise stardom that came with his lead role in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy. After the award-winning epic trilogy wrapped, Wood became involved in a wider variety of projects, like the critically acclaimed Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), Sin City (2005), Everything is Illuminated (2006), and Bobby (2006). He even lent his voice to a few animated projects like Happy Feet (2006) and its sequel, and Robot Chicken. Wood now stars in his own hilarious television show Wilfred about a manic depressive man who is the only one who can see his neighbor's dog as a full grown man in a dog suit.
