Japanese animator and director, born on July 10, 1973, in Nonoichi, Ishikawa, Japan. He previously worked at Studio Ghibli. He became the youngest director of a studio theatrical film produced by the studio. His works include When Marnie Was There (2014), The Secret World of Arrietty (2010), and Mary and the Witch's Flower (2017).
