A Swazi-English actor born on 5 May 1957 in Mbabane, Eswatini. He made his acting debut on the short film Essences (1983). His most notable works include Withnail & I (1987), Hudson Hawk (1991), Gosford Park (2001), and Can You Ever Forgive Me? (2018), for which he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.


Richard Esterhuysen is a Swaziland-born British actor, screenwriter and director born on 5th of May 1957. At the age of nine, he witnessed an adulterous relationship between his mother and another man that led to the break-up of his parents' marriage since then he kept a daily diary. His started his career through participating in "Withnail and I"(1987). Afterwards he started to appear more in Hollywood films like: How to Get Ahead in Advertising(1989), Mountains of the Moon(1990), Hudson Hawk(1991) in addition to The Player(1992), The Age of Innocence(1993), Prêt-à-Porter (1994) and Jack and Sarah(1995). Moreover he also presented many TV series such as: "A Christmas Carol" (1999) "Above and Beyond "(2006) "Dalziel and Pascoe" (2007)", The Crimson Petal and the White" (2011). His recent appearance is in: Love Hurts (2009), Jackboots on Whitehall (2010), The Iron Lady (2011) and Foster (2012).
