Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is an American professional wrestler, actor, author, and former college football player. He was born in Hayward, California, on May 2, 1972. He got a full scholarship to the University of Miami, where he was an enormously successful football player. A back injury in 1995 cost him a spot in the NFL. He first gained prominence as Rocky Maivia in the WWE, where he established himself as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. He won 17 championships in WWE, including 10 as a world heavyweight champion. His autobiography, The Rock Says..., was published in 2000 and debuted at #1 on The New York Times Best Seller list, where it remained for several weeks. He made his film debut in The Mummy Returns (2001) as the Scorpion King. His character got its own sequel in The Scorpion King (2002). His other film credits include The Rundown (2003), Gridiron Gang (2006), Get Smart (2008), Faster (2010), Fast Five (2011), Fast & Furious 6 (2013) and G.I. Joe Retaliation (2013).
