An American writer, novelist, and university professor, born in Peekskill, New York. He studied at the University of Iowa and the State University of New York. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and among his novels is "The Tortilla Curtain". His credits include The Road to Wellville (1994) and The Lie (2011).
