Rachel Nichols was born in 1980 in Augusta, Maine. She enjoyed the outdoorsy Maine lifestyle, swimming, windsurfing and sailing as often as possible. She began her career in modeling, which had her flying out to Europe for photo shoots while studying economics and psychology at Columbia University in New York, where she also took drama classes. She had a small but memorable role in a steamy episode of "Sex and the City" in 2002, which she followed with more TV appearances. She soon gained more recognition for playing Rachel Gibson in the last season of the television series "Alias" (2005-2006). Since then, she's had roles in "The Amityville Horror" (2005), "Star Trek" (2009), and "Conan the Barbarian" (2011).
