American poet and university professor at Boston College, born in 1940. He is specialized in modern American and British poetry, religion and literature, and creative writing. He was educated at Manhattan College, Colgate University, and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. He taught at Colgate University, Hunter College, and Lyman College. From 2000 until his retirement, he taught poetry and literature at Boston College, and held a chair as University Professor of English. He's known for The Broken Tower (2011).
