An American actor, producer, and screenwriter, born on July 22, 1960, in Bogotá, Colombia. When he was three, his family moved to New York, where Leguizamo grew up. He attended New York University, majoring in theater. His first appearance in front of the cameras was in an episode of Miami Vice (1984), while his first movie was Mixed Blood (1984), in which he played a small role. Then he played some marginal roles in several works, and due to his distinguished voice, he participated in the animated movie Ice Age (2002). His other notable works include Romeo + Juliet (1996) and Moulin Rouge! (2001).
