An American playwright, screenwriter, lawyer, politician, film director, novelist, and actor, born in Shelby, North Carolina, United States. He attended Wake Forest College, where he studied history and political science. His credits include The Birth of a Nation, as well as The Fall of a Nation. He died on April 3, 1946, in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States.
