Sergei Eisenstein was a Russian director and writer, born on January 22, 1898. He attended the Institute of Civil Engineering in Petrograd, after which he joined the Red Army at age 20. In 1920, his career began on theatre and despite his success in The Sage comic play, he showed interest in devoting himself in the movies field. His directorial debut was Golomov's Diary (1923). His notable works include Strike (1925), Battleship Potemkin (1925), and Thunder Over Mexico (1933). He died on February 11, 1948 in Moscow, Russia.
