Jack Oakie was an American actor born on November 12, 1903 in Sedalia, Missouri, USA. He nearly lost his life when a nearby Wall Street building was bombed which caused him to be "functionally deaf". In 1923, he began his professional career on Broadway. He worked in musical and comedy movies between 1923 to 1927. He was also featured in 5 silent movies between 1927-1928. He signed a contract with Paramount and co-starred in The Dummy (1929). He died on January 23, 1978 in Los Angeles, California.
