An American screenwriter, television producer, and novelist, born in New York, United States. He studied at Deerfield Academy and then went to Dartmouth College. His writing credits include On the Waterfront (1954), Everglades! (1961) and A Face in the Crowd (1957). He died on August 5, 2009, in Quiogue, New York, United States.
