Demian Bichir is a Mexican actor born on August 1, 1963 in Mexico. He is the son of actress Maricruz Nájera and Alejandro Bichir, a theatre director. He started acting at the age of three at the Palace of Fine Arts, and became a member of the National Theater Company at the age of thirteen. He moved to Los Angeles to try getting acting roles but he didn't succeed, so he moved back to Mexico where he starred in Hasta Morir (1994), for which he won an Ariel Award. In 1999, his movie Sexo, pudor y lágrimas was a box office hit in Mexico. His first American appearance was In the Time of the Butterflies (2001). His known roles include Che: Part One &Two (2008). He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Leading Actor for A Better Life (2011).
