British actor born on 27 February 1972 in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK. He studied languages and art history in York University from 1992 to 1995. He took an interest in student drama activities and traveled twice to Edinburgh Festival until he graduated from the School of Drama. His breakthrough roles were in Lorna Doone (2000) and Coupling (2002). He married British actress Georgia Mackenzie and they have a daughter.
