He published using his own name and sometimes under the pseudonym Tyler de Saix. He studied medicine, and after a short stint as a ship doctor, he went to many...Read more exotic locations in the South Pacific, which he later referred to in his novels, where he became a full-time writer. Among his most important novels are Drums of War (1910), Man of the Islands (1920), and Ocean Tramps (1924). In the 1920s, he moved to the Isle of Wight, where he lived until his death on 12 April 1951.
