A British director, writer, and producer, born on June 17, 1936 in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England, United Kingdom. He studied law at St Peter's College, Oxford, and worked in theater. He won many awards, including the BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Film of the Year for I, Daniel Blake (2016). His other works include Kes, Land and Freedom, and The Wind That Shakes the Barley.
