A Senegalese writer, born on December 16, 1946, in the village of Bargny, close to Dakar. He is one of the notable writers of crime novels in Africa. His first novel, La Vie en spirale (Life in a Spiral), was published by Gallimard printing house in Paris as part of the Black Series in 1998. It is a dark crime novel that infiltrates the world of drugs in Somalia and the trade of marijuana, which is called there locally "yamba." His second novel was Ramata. It was also published in Paris by the same printing house in 2000. In it, Abasse exposes laxity, negligence, and corruption in the Senegalese capital, while his third novel was Mbëkë mi. It also bears a second title, à l'assaut des vagues de l'Atlantique (Storming the Waves of the Atlantic).
