A French-Swiss director, writer, and editor, born in Paris, France. He attended school in Nyon, Switzerland. In 1949, he enrolled at the Sorbonne to obtain a degree in ethnology. His works include Breathless, Vivre sa vie, Contempt, and Pierrot le fou.
