A Turkish actress and writer, born in 1959, in Ankara. She worked in the political field, as she was affiliated with the Workers Party of Turkey. She also worked in the cultural and artistic fields, publishing writings in several cultural magazines and writing scripts for plays, films, and television series. Her notable work includes In Nowhere Land, The International, and The Magnificent Century, which sparked widespread controversy in Turkey. In 1984, she married actor Yaman Okay, who died ten years after their marriage after suffering from cancer. Meral Okay passed away on April 9, 2012, after suffering from lung cancer.
