Samantha Barks, born in 1990, is an English stage and film actor, singer and a newcomer to the scene. For her first film role ever, she beat out Taylor Swift, Lea Michele and Scarlett Johansson for the coveted role of Eponine in Tom Hooper's film adaptation of "Les Miserables" (2012). She's no stranger to the role, though. In 2010, she played Eponine in London's West End production and also appeared in a 25th anniversary TV concert of the musical. Barks was a breakout star on the British talent show "I'd Do Anything" at age 17.
