He was born on April 4, 1932 in Russia. He is a Russian director, actor, writer, film theorist and opera director. Among his most famous works are: Solaris in 1972, The Sacrifice in 1986,and Andrei Rublev. The 1956 short film The Killers is the first written work by him and he co-directed it. He co-acted in the movie There Will Be No Leave Today in 1956. He died on December 29, 1986 in Paris.
