A Czech-British author, producer and director, born 3 July 1937 in Zlin, Czechoslovakia. In 1999, he won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for Shakespeare in Love. His works include: Brazil, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, Shakespeare in Love and Anna Karenina.
