A British composer, director, and writer, born on January 12, 1957, in London, England, United Kingdom. He married Maria Friedman, and they have two children. He was nominated for two Tony Awards in 2003 for the musical "Amour", which he adapted from French to English. He is the younger brother of chess champion Richard Sams. His works include Enduring Love (2004), My Cousin Rachel (2017), and First Night (2010).
