American producer and actor, born in New York State, United States, to a father who works as a dentist. Evans tried to become an actor but was unsuccessful so he turned to producing. He began his artistic career in 1957, and when he reached the age of thirty-six, he assumed responsibility for the artistic production company Paramount. He also received an Oscar nomination for the film Chinatown in 1974, and he presented the film Sliver (1994).
