Irish writer and actor, born on 4 April 1941 in Ireland. He attended Bristol Old Vic Theater School. He was nominated for an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay in 1990 for My Left Foot: The Story of Christy Brown. His works include The Run of the Country (1995) and The Blackwater Lightship (2004).
