American actress born on 18 July 1961 in Illinois. She studied acting at Juilliard in 1979. She made her film debut on Ordinary People (1980). Her other works include Ragtime (1981), Once Upon a Time in America (1984), and Downton Abbey (2010), her role in which earned her Golden Globe and Emmy nominations.
