An American actor, born in Grand Island, Nebraska in 1905 as Henry Gaines Fonda, and died in 1982 in Los Angeles, California of cardiac and respiratory arrest. He received many awards, the most important of which is an Academy Award for Best Actor in 1982 for his role in the movie On Golden Pond. He began his theatrical career by working in an amateur theater company, then in the Cape Cod University company, and ended up in New York on Broadway. His notable films include: The Grapes of Wrath, The Wrong Man, and 12 Angry Men.
