Anne Bancroft was an American actress. She signed a contract with Fox studios in the early 1950s, which was aimed at making her an A-list star, but after a series of B-list movies, she turned to Broadway. She married comedian Mel Brooks in 1956 after meeting him in the rehearsals for the play "I Can Always Get Married". She appeared in three Brooks plays including the musical "The Producers". She died in 2005, aged 73.
