Janeane Garofalo is an American stand-up comedian, actress and writer of Italian and Irish descent. She studied history at Providence College, and started her career as a stand-up comedian in the late 1980s. Her television debut was on the “Ben Stiller Show”, which she followed by roles in “The Larry Sanders Show” and “Saturday Night Live”. Her breakthrough into film came in 1994's “Reality Bites”, and then in 1996 she earned a starring role in “The Truth About Cats & Dogs”, which featured Uma Thurman. Her other famous roles include those in the television series “24” and “Criminal Minds”, as well as a voice role in “Ratatouille”.
